Roberto Alagna and Aleksandra Kurzak met when they were lead performers in a production of Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore at the Royal Opera House in London. Several years later, while they were performing the same piece at the Opéra de Paris, they got married. Today they form a glamorous opera couple that moves audiences all over the world.

The French tenor Roberto Alagna has been a popular guest in such houses as Milan’s La Scala, Covent Garden in London, the Wiener Staatsoper and the Metropolitan Opera in New York ever since his debut as Alfredo in Verdi’s La Traviata (1988, Glyndebourne Touring Opera, UK). His repertoire includes almost all the leading tenor roles from operas by Verdi, Donizetti, Gounod, Massenet and Puccini. He has an impressive discography, regularly performs lighter music and also appears on popular TV programmes.

Aleksandra Kurzak is a Polish operatic soprano whose career began in the Hamburger Staatsoper ensemble. She was initially a coloratura soprano but now sings mostly late 19th-century and verismo repertoire. She recently performed as Violetta (La Traviata) at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and Cio-Cio San (Madame Butterfly) at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Berlin.
